The most popular route to Mount Everest is from Nepal. It takes 19 days round trip to Everest Base Camp (EBC) from Kathmandu - first you fly to Lukla and then trek the rest of the way. During the season (Mar-May), 100-200 trekkers make it to EBC daily. Think of this trek as a marathon, not a race. You win by making it there - not being there first! Summit climbers follow the same trek pattern up to EBC in order to acclimate themselves. After that, they need 60-90 days and lots of money.
